Located across from the CT convention center and seconds from route 91, they are a classic tavern the perfect venue for small weddings, fundraisers, and private functions. Thomas Hooker resided on Arch Street (very near the Tavern's present site) alongside many other of Hartford's leading citizens. In those days, the Little River served as a watery highway on which barges ferried supplies into the heart of the young city. In 1895, the Hartford Brick Carriage Factory (now Arch Street Tavern) was built, where it manufactured buggies and carriages until the automobile caused its demise some 20 years later.
