They started talking about opening their own business- maybe a pizzeria, maybe a Oaxacan restaurant- but these businesses require a large investment to get started. After some deep thought, they said, “Why not make ice cream?’ To make ice cream doesn’t take much capital or equipment, just the work of their hands. They started writing recipes, trying them out, then learned the process of how to make the ice cream properly. Their husband’s brother shared some recipes from Mexico with them and showed them how to make them, plus he gave them tips and tricks on how to use different ingredients and come up with their own recipes.
