About
It is intended to be restorative to the artists they work with and the community they serve, while developing discourse that is helpful to artists and experimentation. Established in September 2021 coming out of the Delta wave of Covid-19 as a space in which artists would come and stay in the multi generational home, work, put on exhibitions, and engage in and with the community. The gallery programming is focused on solo exhibitions because they felt it was the most essential need in the arts ecology of the Pacific Northwest. The primary focus of SE Cooper Contemporary is to support the works of artists looking toward the internal spaces of their everyday lives to create work, discourse and ideas that become forms of resistance in their external world of violence, climate change, social justice, and late capitalism.
